I'm uncertain as to whether anyone else here has played it, but I thought this game amazing and loved its soundtrack. Thus I wondered if I might be so bold as to request pieces from it.

Already done. In fact, the entire MI series is done.

http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com/

They used to have Indiana Jones music (from TFOA as well as the other later ones) and Star Wars music but they were taken off due to copyright....reasons. I think it's stupid because the only soundtracks that were up there all had original soundtracks unlike the later Star Wars games of today that just used library Star Wars music from the movies. I don't think the LucasArts people who told the guy to take them off knew that.

Looking back on CMI (the first game in the series that I played), I think the (admittedly sparse) criticism it's received is undeserved. True, it was a complete 180 for MI, but it was a 180 that was necessary for the series to progress. And the game's friggin' hilarious. EfMI is a more controversial issue, but still a well-made and highly creative game overall (not sure if Alistair has played it, but I wonder what he'd have to say about the stereotypical portrayal of Australians in that game Wink).

I ripped most of the music several years ago using...SCUMM Revisited, I think it was. It's still on my hard drive, surprisingly enough mostly in high-quality WAV form. Lots of good pieces, too, starting from the classic theme and including variations on the act screen, the Plunder Island themes, the Barbery Coast themes, the Blood Island ambient tracks...A very memorable soundtrack overall. Been a while since I last played it, but I intend to correct that mistake soon enough. Monkey Island music, though, is a whole other topic and I could go on about it for much longer than two paragraphs; I'll spare you all the torment though.

In MI4, the fate of the grog bar, and the method by which Guybrush must retrieve a map, will be forever etched in my brain as one of the funniest moments in the Monkey Island series.

As for the music from MI3, that was good stuff.  Especially the rhyming pirate song. Wink

Hehe

"A pirate I was meant to be!" "Scourge the something....er...something.....SEA!" I can't remember all the words.

"To avoid catching scurvy we'll all be sure to eat an orange!"

"uh...er....door hinge?...no.....I guess the song's over now."

lol that was great. CMI definitely was hilarious. Still haven't played EMI yet.

It's rather sad, but I pretty much remember every word of that song Smiley. A definite high in the history of the series.

EfMI, as I said, is characterized by a kind of atmosphere that differs from the others, but is still very Monkey Island to me. I tend to be a traditionalist and despise significant changes in subsequent parts of a series, but this one was enjoyable, though the atmosphere was not as thick and grimy (and distinctive) as with Grim Fandango, which used an earlier version of the same engine.
